BoutiqueStay was built in 1962 by Charalampos and Eleni Pavlou, a fisherman and a schoolteacher from Afytos village on the Kassandra peninsula of Halkidiki. They saved for eight years, mortgaged their olive grove, and built an eight-room family hotel on the cliff above the village's small harbour, with eight matching arched balconies facing west across the Toroneos Gulf. They ran it themselves until 1989, then their son Stefanos and his wife Anastasia took it on; it stayed an eight-room family hotel through the 1990s and 2000s, beloved by a small group of Thessaloniki and Belgrade families who returned year after year.
